The popular game of bingo is played everywhere and has been played for many years. With the advent of time this game also has acquired several different monikers. The simple Bingo is known as lotto or housy-housy. This game was primarily played in several local halls for entertainment, and the winners often received small prizes.
The simplicity of the game of Bingo gradually lessened with the coming of the Gaming Act of 1968. There are several bingo halls that came into being and soon replaced their own simplicity with casinos for the less wealthy. It is said even before the coming of the Bingo Gaming Act of 1968, it was quite well known to play a game or two and try win something.
All the commercial clubs not so surprisingly were concerned with making profits and of course due to this most of the old halls have disappeared or it is better to be said have been replaced in the quest for speed of play and at the same time maximize the turnover.
There are several sorts of games like Two Fat Ladies that seem to have disappeared nowadays. A game of Sweet Sixteen might be considered too personal and the Key of The Door is a bit outmoded and outdated. Out of date, too, is Maggie’s Den; she’s not been there for seventeen years now and even Tony is talking of moving out.
The Two and Six, Half a Crown went out of fashion with the decimalization in the year 1971. Seven and Six and Three Half Crowns also faced the same conclusion as everything seems to have gone metric in today’s world. I’m not too sure about number twelve, One Dozen, or it’s related 24, 36, and 48. Maybe metrication has disposed of them too. Number Nine, Doctor’s Orders is rather archaic, too. Only old soldiers are likely to remember that expression.
Certainly there should be no problem with Clickety Click, nor Two Little Ducks, should there? I have even heard Clickety Duck called, but the perpetrator was Danish and an entertainments officer on a DFDS ferry, so that’s easily excused, even though it might have been Unlucky for Some.
